1972 Schock Capri 14 classic sailboat – $3,000 (Marina del Rey) For Sell – 1972 Schock Capri 14 classic sailboat – $3,000 (Marina del Rey) Near Me
I did some work on a neighbor’s boat and he gave me this sailboat in lieu of payment.
I don’t really need this boat and I don’t have the room to keep it so I’m selling it to try to make some of my money back.
I originally thought (and was told) that it was a Lido 14 but was corrected by someone who responded to my ad, that it was actually a Capri 14. (Thanks Alex!)
Apparently Schock first made the Capri 14 and then years later Catalina copied them and made their own Capri 14, and so Schock sued Catalina and Catalina had to change theirs to a Capri 14.2
I don’t know much else about these little boats but I do know they have a strong following and are very popular among both novice and experienced sailors.
This one looks really nice!
It’s super clean and shiny. Has a little cubby under the foredeck for storage.
It comes with 2 sails (jib and main) and has a removable rudder and tiller handle.
The sails look to be still in pretty decent shape.
The edge of the main sail that fits in the groove that goes up the mast looks like it’s fraying in a couple areas so it can use some repair. I don’t know what this part of the sail is called but I’m sure it can get a new section sewed on.
The mast and rigging look solid and the cam cleats for the jib sheets are nice and in tact.
I don’t know how these boats are supposed to look when fully complete and rigged properly so I don’t know what may or may not be missing.
It looks like the seats have the ability to hold water for ballast. There are drain plugs in them.
The boat does NOT come with a trailer and is currently in the water. It gets monthly bottom cleanings.
In fact, I had the bottom cleaned yesterday as well as having the whole boat washed and detailed, including washing the sails and buffing/waxing the hull and decks.
There is an approx 12″ section on the portside hull where the boat has apparently rubbed up against something and the gelcoat has rubbed off (see photo).
The boat has current registration and “23” stickers.
I have the DMV signed title with me.
Oh, and it comes with a full canvas cover! ($500 value)
Asking $3000 obo. Cash only. No trades.
Must be able to sail the boat away or come with a trailer to tow it away.
